Admittedly, she was a bit nervous about the whole pregnancy itself. She didn't have an awful lot of experience with expectant mothers, but it didn't exactly sound pleasant. Honestly, she was quite grateful she'd changed her mind on the whole wanting twelve kids thing. If she handled this one well, they'd see about four. Horror stories about women who were sick for months, painful cramping and swelling, and of course the changing of her body were all things that had her slightly on edge.
But the smile that lit up her husband's face told her it would all be worth it in the end. They'd be holding a little one in their arms before long. She'd sing to it and teach it and heaven knew, they'd both love it. More than anything.
"I'm glad you're happy," she said softly, looking up into his eyes. "I've been so unsure if we were ready but...if we're not now, we're never going to be." She kissed the tip of his nose and then his mouth. "I love you, too. Daddy." It was a more modern term, but she liked the way it sounded. Especially for him. The father who could spoil his child and love it unconditionally.
