He didn't follow what she'd said, not right away. He was too busy wondering what that look was about. He'd been on the receiving end of it a time or two, and usually it meant she was up to something. But it wasn't until he gave them further consideration that he realised just what it was she was saying.
"Really?" A grin spread across his face even as he wondered why he'd bothered asking. It wasn't as though she would say it otherwise. But he didn't quite know what else to say. "Oh my god, that's..." The overwhelming excitement he felt at it made it impossible to find any words. He put his arms around her again, pulling her in to a hug. "How long have you known?" He didn't know how she had that much restraint. "I can't believe it." He was probably going to start babbling soon. His thoughts were going at a mile a minute. It was all he could do not to pick her up and spin her around.
He was going to have a son, or a daughter. A child with her. Finally. Hadn't he only just been thinking how much he wanted that? How perfect it would be? All thoughts of dinner were completely gone now. Pulling back he kept his hands on her arms. He couldn't stop smiling and he didn't want to. "You have made me so happy, Marian."
