Who: Robin and Marian What: Decorating their new place leads to a big reveal When: Monday evening Where: The new Chez Locksley Warnings: TBD, these two it could be anything
When she'd first decided to start painting the new house, it had sounded so exciting. And easy. She'd been terribly wrong. Though as she stood back, looking over the master bedroom of the house they'd purchased, she had to admit she was proud. It looked good, just as the living room and the master bathroom did. The rest might have to wait until after they were moved in. She was exhausted.
And now, at least, she knew why.
She was excited. Ecstatic, even. For all their arguing and bickering, she loved Robin more than life itself, and to know that the two of them were finally, finally getting the chance to start a family was overwhelming. But she had to find the way to tell him. Something fun, maybe. Special. Or romantic. It was a hard choice to make.
At the moment, however, she stood in the middle of the bedroom, wearing jeans rolled at the ankles and a plaid top that would've made Lois cringe. Her hair was held back with a bandanna and she knew from glancing in the bathroom mirror that she was covered in paint. Her feet were bare, since she'd learned on the first day working on the bath that no matter how careful you were, it was possible to accidentally step in a pan of paint. Good thing those hadn't been her favorite shoes.
She glanced sideways at her husband, still wary given the words they'd exchanged. She knew he'd never be completely okay with Guy. Maybe she wouldn't, either. But she had to try to get along with him or else, what was it all for? She'd made a life here, she wouldn't let the man who'd claimed to love her and then killed her ruin it. Absently, without even realizing it, the hand not holding a paint brush drifted to her abdomen. Keeping her life together was more important than ever now. Robin would see that. He had to.
Impulsively, she stood on her tiptoes and kissed his cheek. "I think we're done in here. Maybe. We might need another coat, depends on how it dries. I could have gotten a darker color, but it's our bedroom, I didn't think we wanted to be living in a cave." And it really was the prettiest shade of blue imaginable. Of course, if she thought on it long enough, the color matched his eyes and that may have been why she was so drawn to it. But telling him that would only inflate his ego and they couldn't have that, now could they?
