He probably should have been shocked, but really it hadn't hit him yet what had actually happened. It all happened so quickly. He'd not even had time to process it all. Though it felt in Heaven as though he had a little longer, when he got back to Kansas time almost literally smacked him in the face. He'd been having a difficult time figuring out what he was supposed to do, so mostly he just slept. A lot. As if he were trying to adjust again to the living world, but there wasn't really anything to adjust to. They didn't have a place of their own anymore. He was grasping at straws.
Seeing her grounded him a little. He didn't feel nearly as lost around her. Her familiar presence was comforting. He looked at the plate and laughed. He didn't mean to, but he couldn't help it. He'd not often been on the receiving side of baking, it was a little odd but appreciated. He took the plate carefully. "You did not have to bring anything." His mind felt still around her, and after being returned from Heaven it was a good thing. He needed that stillness to maintain his own sanity.
He didn't ask for things often, and this was no different. He hugged her warmly. "I missed you." In Heaven he didn't have to miss anyone, all his best friends were there with him. But on Earth it'd felt like forever since he'd been with her. "I'm glad you're unhurt." He said quietly as he looked her over. "I'm still not..entirely sure what happened, but from what it sounds like it was bad."
