Much was alive. Much was alive. Jane had known that the Seal could do things like that. Her sister had told her about her own experience with dying and returning before Jane had ever arrived in Lawrence, but that didn’t mean it always happened. People did die and stay dead in the city and so she had known she couldn’t hope that the Seal would do that for Much. To hold onto that hope and never see it come to fruition would have been devastating, would have broken her more than simply hearing from Robin that the man was dead.
She had been very happy to learn he was back, and even more pleased when Marian invited her over to see him. Once she was at the Inn though, that niggling doubt was beginning to settle into her. Should she not wait until his family had more time with him before she visited? He can’t have been back all that long. Surely Robin didn’t want to leave him.
But she was already at the Inn, and standing in front of the door to the room so there was little point in not knocking and hoping he would answer.
