It was sort of ironic, really. She'd been on her way to his place to make sure he got out of the building because vampires and fire didn't tend to be a good combination. And when she'd heard the explosion, he'd been her first thought. She should have known he'd wind up rescuing her instead of the other way around, really.
"I can walk," she assured him when he asked. She wasn't hurt. Nothing major anyway. Scrapes and bruises. She coughed, looking around at all the smoke. "But you still have to get out of here, too." Which meant they needed a plan. When he set her on her feet a moment later, she took the coat off and pulled it up over his head. "There's that cafe across the street. You're gonna have to run."
