"Because that's what they call it here. The evil thingies aren't as easy to come by in this world, you have to actually go track them down and find them. And she's probably not using a spear. It's probably a crossbow or knife or something. And leopard... I doubt Buffy would even wear the print. It's really tacky." Andrew rolled his eyes and turned a corner.
And, crap. Now he was going to have to explain a lot more. The whole wrong-point-in-time thing was really confusing already. "So, when I'm from, there's tons of Slayers. Because a few months after... well, when you're from, I guess that's the best say to say it, the First, which is the First evil, came a-callin' it had these really ugly minions with no eyes that were going around killing potentials." And gouging out Xander's eye, but that didn't need to be mentioned just yet. "Oh, and they blew up the Counsel building. But anyway, so the potentials all came and moved into Buffy's house with us, I was living there, too, by the way."
Well, that would probably make things more confusing for a minute, but he'd skip that. "And then we realized that the First was way too strong for just one slayer and one witch and one vampire and a bunch of people with no powers, so Buffy came up with this idea to do a spell using this special magic scythe and made all the potentials into Slayers. So now there's probably a couple thousand of them. But the army's only a few hundred."
