Emotion wasn't a thing Kon was good at handling, it wasn't exactly a secret. But what he lacked in correct emotional responses he gained in loyalty. There was no judgement in his hug at his broken heart. Just support. He didn't have all the answers, but neither did anyone else. He knew what Connor did when he was depressed or angry or upset, so he copied him. Tried his best to be soothing, though very little could sooth that kind of pain. He was just there. A strength where Connor didn't have it. Whatever Connor needed done, Kon was going to do it. No conversation, just action.
Blue eyes almost seemed to let off a soft eerie glow in the dim light. "I know..You shouldn't have to." He'd experienced pain, but he'd never cried. Not until that evening. He'd never cried the way Connor was, even when Allana left or Clark left. He was capable obviously, but he hadn't known. The one thing he did know was that it was a horrible feeling. After this night, he would try to make sure Connor would never have to suffer it again. He would protect him. When they did meet the Devil, he would bring him all the hell he'd brought to his friend if it was the last thing he did.
There were no empty promises that it was going to be okay, he wanted to tell him it would be but he also didn't want to lie. He didn't know if it was, and yet maybe Connor deserved a little lie. "You won't have to." He rested his hand on his back protectively and fell silent. Krypto was lurking somewhere with Stevie. Even the dog tried to help in is own way.
