He didn't know when it had happened. The switch, it came suddenly sometimes as it had with Sylvie, and sometimes it was a slow slow burn as Alex had indicated it was last time, as it had been with Leo. This had been sort of a mix. Hal clinging on to control for weeks and then suddenly, he'd pushed, Hal had lost and that, it seemed, was that. He had Kol to thank really, ironic as that was. Kol and in a strange way Lucifer. And of course Katherine. That final push of trying to help her friend. And thank her he would.
He could have done better than the seedy motel. But there was so little point. The woman would keep her mouth shut either way, she'd know better.
But of course for now it was fun to play at being Hal, with her, with Alex. He was biding his time until he didn't need them anymore. But given all the ridiculousness with Klaus, it seemed prudent at least for now to have them believe the lie. And yet there was a part of him that very much wanted to tell her, to thank her, to see that look on her face, to know exactly what she had done.
