The little green card fell from Belle's fingers, the baby Aislinn in her other arm, cradled safely against her. It was nothing. It wasn't anything about her father or about Rumple or even her other self, the harlot. Lucifer had failed if he was attempting to get to her. A green card which meant nothing to her. Nothing at all.
She ignored it. Played with the baby, watching her was a delight Belle would never willingly give up. Her little grandchild. Not by blood or family ties perhaps but Aislinn was family to her as much as Henry was. Though of course Henry wasn't technicly related to her either. She'd never had the chance to marry. She supposed it made sense. Who would you get to actually do something like that? A wedding like that? Marry the Dark One to his former housekeeper. His captive. She knew well how people viewed her. But here it was different wasn't it? Or maybe they pitied her. Emma and the Huntsman, Snow and her Charming, Red and the man who had stolen her heart, They all had someone. They all had something in their lives so beautiful and so real and Belle...where was Belle...waking up alone clinging to hope that one day he would be returned to her. That the Seal would see that she needed him.
Emma Swan had everything. Her babies, her true love. Her parents. Belle didn't begrudge her...or maybe...maybe she did. Maybe she wondered just what Emma had done to deserve everything she had here. Or what Snow had done that she hadn't to have her true love with her.
It wasn't fair.
The beautiful dark haired little girl, served only as a reminder of everything she didn't have. Because it seemed unlikely didn't it, that babies were in her future. Rumplestiltskin already had a son, and a grandson and in theory a granddaughter. What did she measure up to that? He wouldn't love her children even if they were in the same world. It would be additions. Baelfire was his son. His son with Mila.
MIla. Another woman that didn't deserve what life had given her. She'd had a loving husband and a beautiful son and she'd thrown it away on what? On a scruffy pirate with more ego than sense. And when Belle finally had found her true love, it hadn't lasted long before she'd been taken. Regina. Regina had ruined her life.
Emma, Snow, Regina, Mila.
They'd all gotten so much and left Belle with nothing. It wasn't fair
Gods she hated them.
Aislinn would be better off with her. That was the truth of it. Aislinn would be better off if she just stayed with her
