"Yeah, I ate," Sam lied. So what if he was lying? It was all that Ruby had been doing to him for as long as he had known her. He folded his arms across his chest and looked down. There was a burger in there. Some fries. If anything, Sam was pretty sure that Ruby would eat the french fries. She usually did. Maybe he wasn't supposed to be bringing food to the enemy. In fact, Sam was pretty sure that there was a rule out there that said: Do Not Feed Demon. But Sam cared about her. And that didn't just stop. No matter how much he wished that it would for both their sakes.
"I lost my shoe. Left it behind, actually. I thought I'd come back and get it." He was being sarcastic and was pretty sure that they both knew it. Sam sighed and looked away from her, eying the door disapprovingly. "You know why I came back. I thought that much would have been obvious." And it was. He couldn't leave her. Sam wasn't here to kill her, so it was obviously the other choice. The one that he wasn't supposed to be making.
"Go ahead and eat." Sam moved back to his bag, rummaging around inside for...well, something. Something to keep himself distracted. Maybe he'd take a shower. He just didn't know what else to do right now.
