Ruby had been keeping an eye on Dean? Sam didn't get it. She didn't like Dean, why bother wasting her time hanging around someone who probably would have been more likely to try and exorcise her than thank her for keeping him company? If he had been sleeping though...maybe Sam didn't need to bother him. He'd be fine, yeah. Ruby would give him some blood, Dean would rest, and everything would be okay. Sam would just sit with him later. It wasn't like any angry demons would be trying to burst into the hospital while he, the guy who wiped Alastair off the map, was occupying the building. They were gonna stay away. Sam wasn't too sure if he was grateful for that or disappointed. He could have used a bit more action tonight. Some way to vent. Knowing that Dean was lying in that hospital bed all weak and in pain did nothing but sour his mood.
...but Ruby would make that better, wouldn't she? With the blood. Yes, the blood. Because if there was anything in this hospital that would relieve him more than knowing that Dean was okay, it was that. Being able to drink down that warm, comforting rush of power. Fuck, he could taste it already. Sam nodded eagerly, squeezing at her hand. He all but began to drag her down the hall in his excitement and desperation, only failing to do so when Ruby brought up that they had to talk. Sam immediately frowned, not feeling terribly pleased about it. Why did they have to talk? What did they have to talk about? Why was she being annoying? Didn't she know that he needed to drink the blood now?
Ah. She wanted him to kiss her. She was doing that...thing. Where she worried herself about the future or him falling out of love with her or something. It usually brought out a great concern in Sam, but right now he couldn't muster up the energy to express much sympathy for her. "Yeah, all right. I love you. There's nothing that could change how I feel, you're the best thing that's ever happened to me, you're the most amazing thing I've ever had in my life - can we go now?" Oh, right. Sam leaned in and kissed her on the cheek, then pulled at her hand eagerly. "Come on."
