"Yeah but they weren't all kids. There were people I could see as only wanting what you wanted. To do it so others didn't have to, to step up. But it took you which I say means something. And don't argue with me. I'm stubborn when I wanna be."
Jack could only imagine what Death had in store for Robin Hood, he had ideas of course but this was Death and he was sure nothing he could imagine would come close. But the idea of Becker in a warzone unable to help anyone or change anything jarred at Jack. He knew only too well how it felt to stand on a field of battle like that, and not being able to infuluence anything at all would kill him.
Metaphoricly obviously.
Only for the day was something at least but Becker had still seen him like that, like a wrong thing that should probably not get to exist. But he was saying all the right things now, saying that nothing changed. Nothing would and that he loved him. And he'd needed to hear that ever since Becker had signed on for that one godawful day.
"Death's not the first person to see me like that is all. Didn't want you joining the ranks. Honestly, not quite sure I expected you to ever look at me the same again. Or the rest but, y'know, on this one I'm gonna be selfish." And that intensity in his eyes told Jack all he needed to know or ever would need to know. "Love you too, dammed ridiciulous need to be heroic and all"
