It was good to see him laughing, even if it was about potential future concussions. "More than one. Understood Captain."
Jack knew what that meant of course. Seeing the world like Death did. He didn't want to confirm the thought, not really, but he had to. If he didn't it would bother him until he had it known one way or the other. "Like Death sees it...Like Death sees me?" Wrong. Fixed. He didn't want Becker to see him like Death did. Like the Doctor did, The TARDIS, hell, even the Master and Romana had thought him little better than a 'thing'.
He wasn't gonna let on how much it bothered him, not to Becker or Rose or the Doctor or anyone that really mattered to him. Especially not now when he needed to be there for Becker. He needed to be the strong one and he had every intention of being that.
"But you did it, hard as it was, you did it cause it had to be done. Death chose the two of you for a reason, don't you think? Maybe he knew you were the ones capable of doing it and coming back. And yeah it'll change things, change your opinions of some stuff maybe. But that's what he wanted, right? People to see the world like he does, even the wrong parts..."
Jack let Becker lean back, steadying him, focusing him. He needed that, hell maybe they both did.
