She still had nightmares. The screaming had died down after a week or two, but she still saw his face, still saw the tools, the blood. She relived it all most nights, and she didn't know how to deal with it. Rose was a very logical girl. Logically, she had survive, she had got away, and she had time to heal. She'd dealt with the experience in her own way. There was an entire journal full of songs, or just lyrics, that she wrote, and kept under her pillow. Music was her way of coping, but it hadn't done her much good. Maybe because she could write it, but she couldn't express it. She didn't have her band here.
Either way, she was up late. Alastair was alive. That son of a bitch was still topside. The Angels hadn't taken care of him, and he was still allowed to live on the same planet they were. The fact that he was alive made her feel sick. She almost expected to turn around and see him. Obviously not possible, at least not in here. But she couldn't shake the sinking feeling. Rose wanted to demon gone.
Her mind was wondering, and when that happened she could often get carried away. So she needed to focus on something. The other day she had decided to try her luck at making a room fly, so she had used a duplicating spell to create another broom that looked like hers. But she still had to do all the magic on it all over again. How that worked, she wasn't sure. She knew most of the theory behind it, but it would be trial an error. And that was just so her cousin and dad could fly. She didn't know if other magic users could use it, let alone muggles.
Rose soon found herself in the gym after moving quietly though the mostly silent building. As she passed the offices, she could glance see Buffy sitting behind one of the desks in her pajamas, staring blankly at the desk.
Moving on, she soon set up shop in the gym, and then looked from her working broom, to the copy. Where to start?
