She took the drink, scrunching her nose at the bitterness. It wasn’t at all how she took her coffee, but she wasn’t about to be picky or ask for cream. Coffee wasn’t why she had come by and it wasn’t why she was staying. Caroline didn’t want Matt to be alone. His sister was currently working through her control issues and there was no doubt in Caroline’s mind that Jeremy was too far gone as well to be much company at that moment. Though maybe being alone was what Matt really wanted, but she was certain being alone wasn’t in his best interest.
“I don’t know what we do here, Matt.” She shrugged, placing the mug back down and leaned back against the counter. Lawrence made no sense and the fact that people could be snatched back to their own world so quickly was disturbing. “Elena’s going home to die and be turned and we both know how much that sucks. You probably more than me since you’re further along our timeline. I’m sure that lots of things happen that I have no clue about.”
She tugged at her fingers, trying to figure out what to say next. What could possibly help them. “Do you remember my birthday?” It was definitely an event she was never going to forget considering all that had happened and how her life had changed that day. “Maybe...maybe we need to have a funeral for Elena? Like we did for me?”
Maybe it was a stupid idea, Caroline didn’t know, but she had to suggest something.
