There wasn't much anyone could say or do to comfort him at this point. But that didn't mean he wasn't glad that she was still there, at least. But he wondered how long it would before the seal took her or Jeremy or Vicki, and what was even the point of going back home? There wasn't anything good in store for any of them. Especially not Jeremy or Vicki. And not for Elena.
He hugged her back, resting his head against hers as he shut his eyes. "Yeah I guess it was." Or to stop fate from taking its course. How long could a person keep that from happening? Not long, apparently.
Matt wasn't entirely sure which dreams she was talking about, but that was probably because his brain was very fuzzy from the last several days of binge drinking he'd engaged in. He rubbed his hands over his face as he pulled away from her. "Want some coffee or something?" he asked as he headed toward the kitchen. Maybe the caffeine would help get rid of the enormous headache pounding in his temples.
