Clark was pleasantly surprised to find that his instruction had been taken in so well. Tim sank the ball straight on into the hoop, making Clark grin in response. "Exactly like that. For someone who has never played basketball before, you sure do have a good arm for it." Clark moved forward to scoop the ball up again, bouncing it back and forth between his hands and the pavement as he moved. "Aiming and shooting is one thing - can you do it under pressure?"
The ball was tossed back to Tim once more, but this time Clark didn't just stand back and watch. He moved forward, positioning himself right in front of Tim. The poor kid would have trouble aiming past Clark. After all, Clark was pretty tall. "Another important thing about the sport is that you're always going to be challenged. Everyone hassling you for the ball, trying to keep you from scoring, trying to steal it back so that their team can get a hold of it. It's not as easy as just being able to throw the ball and shoot." Clark put his arms out on either side of him, waiting for Tim to make a move.
"Try and get the ball to the hoop. Let's see how you do." If he didn't get the first time without Clark stealing the ball, he'd teach him how to lay-up. Maybe that would help with the delivery.
