Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
Entry tags:anatoly sergievsky, james kirk, oswin oswald

Who: Anatoly Sergievsky, James Kirk and Oswin Oswald
What: Well, people in Lawrence don't deal with their issues well. So Oswin checked on Kirk then decided he needed more help than she could give.
When: Early morning of 7 August 2013
Where: Kirk's apartment then the complex medbay
Warnings: Uh, IDK. Kirk!Angst. Language maybe? Medical shenanigans?!
Status: PLACEHOLDER

To say that Oswin was worried would be an understatement. She had seen how other people responded to watching their own lives play out for them and so she herself avoided all things related to Doctor Who if she could at all manage it. But Kirk was her friend, and the fact he had lost count at two bottles of whiskey and was talking about Khan being around? It was definitely something she needed to investigate. Because he was going by Sherlock. And he looked like the Sherlock who had died the year before from her own research in December. Facetwins. Always fun.

Though when Kirk said that she could come over if he could get to the door prompted the genius to sweet talk the Sonic Screwdriver from the Doctor with promises on the sanctity of fish fingers and custard (she had learned early on not to ask) that she wouldn't lose i, Oswin left the TARDIS in the middle of the night to go to the Complex. And... he hadn't come to the door which meant it was using the Sonic. It was definitely something interesting and that she wanted to look more into, but for now, taking care of a... very drunk Starfleet captain.

She was thankful he hadn't gone blathering on the boards, that could have made things worse. Still, with him on the floor, it had taken some skill to get him moved back to the couch. Okay so.. plan for the night, take care of a drunk Kirk and clean up his apartment in the process. Mostly because she felt idle and she didn't like feeling idle. But by the time it was morning, it was becoming clear that there had been more alcohol consumed than Oswin could take care of on her own. Which meant.... trip to the medbay.

Finding a way to support Kirk's mostly dead weight, the petite brunette was thankful for the Sonic as it helped with certain things like doors and elevators which allowed her to get to the medbay.

'Um, help? Someone?"

She didn't know everyone in the medaby. She knew Rory and Martha even though there were others. So now it was the game of seeing who would answer her call.

Readjusting to Lawrence hadn't been overly difficult. The worst part was getting the memories back and allowing them to settle and not having Fayina and Jelena there with him and Svetlana. But Svetlana was here, and he was more than grateful that they still had each other. Though he knew his wife worried for their daughters, they at least knew they were safe. They wouldn't be swept up in the chaos that tended to break out here every now and again. And time did stand still while they were here, so no one would take their daughters away while they were here. That, at least, was comforting and allowed him to focus on other things.

He was again working in the medbay, helping out. It was something to do, something he was good at and something that allowed him to help others. The first week or so had been a little touch and go given the experience of having been back home and still being a chess player had made him a little rusty on his doctor skills. However, getting his memories of Lawrence back had helped once he'd calmed down. Things had settled back into a routine now, one he liked. Though he could've really done without the Seal taking tea away. That week was not an experience he wanted to ever repeat again.

Anatoly was in the medbay early. Things were quiet, so he was largely checking up on files and checking the inventory when he heard someone call for help. Moving towards the door, he saw a young woman carrying an unconscious man. Quickly moving into work mode, Anatoly rushed over.

"Here, allow me," he said as he took one of the man's arms, wrapped it around his shoulders and wrapped his arm around the man's back and pulled him off of Oswin. "What happened?" He asked as he moved Kirk to the nearest empty bed and laid him on it carefully. Once he was on the bed, Anatoly began checking his vitals as he listened to Oswin's answer to his question.

Kirk had no idea what was going on. He'd made the stupid stupid decision to watch his own movie. But seeing Khan's face on the boards...he hadn't known how to handle it. This was the guy who had killed Admiral Pike, killed Admiral Marcus, hurt Carol, knocked him out, fired on his ship...this guy was bad news. He had known somehow he'd been stopped, and his blood had been used to bring him back to life. Spock and Uhura had never given him the hows and whys, though. All he knew was that Spock had done something and gotten Khan's blood and then two weeks later he was waking up from what amounted to a medically induced coma. If he wanted answers as to what had happened, the stupid movie was the only way to get them.

He had decided to do both movies at once. Watching the first wasn't so bad. Seeing his father die a hero had filled him up with a real sense of pride he'd never had, but watching his mother's heartbreak had been the start of the drinking. He knew his father's death had changed his mother, even though he'd never known her before his birth. He still loved his mother, though, and seeing her that way had hurt. And then there was his own moments of assholiness, and that wasn't pretty to watch. He'd had more to drink when he saw the destruction of Vulcan, because that was something he hadn't been able to stop. And he hadn't been in the transporter room when Spock arrived without his mother. Watching his friend's loss, that had been hard. At that point he'd finished the first bottle of whiskey but kept going.

The second movie, though. The second movie he never should have watched. He'd thought he'd grieved for Admiral Pike already. He'd found himself sobbing by the point that he actually died. Apparently he wasn't as over it as he had thought. And then Khan. The smug, arrogant asshole infuriated him. Every time he spoke there was more to drink. By the time they got to Admiral Marcus's arrival he'd finished the second bottle of whiskey. And every time the bastard was on screen and he spoke there was another shot, or two or three. The fact he had to watch Khan save his ass in the debris field just made things worse. By the time he listened to Khan kill Admiral Marcus he just decided to get shitfaced and finish the movie, though right now everything was so fuzzy that he couldn't remember how Khan had gotten beaten, which defeated the whole point of him watching the movie in the first place. He was a massive idiot.

The last thing he remembered was trying to make it to the door to unlock it for Oswin, but even then he wasn't sure if he'd really intended to do that or if he'd just thought about it. At that point, everything was really fuzzy. He'd had a lot to drink in the past, sure. He liked his alcohol. Any of his friends could tell people that. But he'd never gotten blackout drunk before. There was a whole lot of time in his immediate past that he had no answers for. And now he was just slightly more aware. He realized he was really nauseated and he wasn't home, and Oswin was there with a stranger, and he was still completely lost as to what was happening. "Had a lot to drink," he said, mumbling and slurring his speech. "Watched my movie. Probably shouldn't have done that."

Oswin was thankful when Anatoly took Kirk from her. Because as much as she wanted to help, managing to keep him up and get him to a bed would have been an act in and of itself. No, having the help of someone else who was more in line with Kirk's height than Oswin was. It made it easier. So once she had herself freed from trying not to trip and both of them fall to the ground, she was able to put the Sonic Screwdriver back in her bag.

The question on what had happened was about to be answered when it seemed Kirk decided to answer. Sort of. Well, he did, not that it was exactly intelligible. Though given how much alcohol he'd consumed, it wasn't all that surprising.

"What he said. Though when he says a lot, that would be an understatement. I tried to keep him hydrated..."

Not that it had done much good. There was only so much she could do and she had done it. Unfortunately, it hadn't been enough and that was why they were now in the medbay. And she didn't really know how to help. Not in the medbay. Not when she found herself feeling vaguely uncomfortable in general being in there. She couldn't place why. Looking at the medical equipment, her mind flashed briefly to things she wanted to forget and so she shook her head some to clear her mind.

Kirk's answer was to the point, but it lacked details that Anatoly needed. Drinking a lot wasn't exactly giving him a good picture of what was happening. However, Oswin's response did fill in some blanks. It gave Anatoly a possible idea of what was going on, and when he paired the suspicions with what he was seeing in the vitals he was taking, namely Kirk's breathing pattern, his mind was going to the possibility that this was alcohol poisoning. Setting his stethoscope back around his neck, he glanced at Oswin because he would get the more coherent answers out of her.

"Has he been throwing up or having seizures?" The answer to that would certainly give him the direction he needed to go in with treatment. "Hydration was a good thing, I do believe he needs fluids at the very least." He took Kirk's temperature and made note of it. The temperature was low, though not quite low enough to cause hypothermia. However, if nothing was done that is where things were heading. "Did he lose consciousness?" That was also an important question that would determine method of treatment. Once he had those answers, he would have an IV set up. If this was indeed alcohol poisoning, all that could be done was to keep Kirk on an IV and flush the alcohol out of his system that way. Though he would need to be under close monitoring during that process.

And there were reasons those who were doctors, were, well, doctors. They knew the questions to ask. Because for all of her genius, Oswin didn't know what was going on beyond that Kirk had had way too much to drink and she'd been ensuring that he wasn't alone when he was clearly upset. She had made note of what was going on before she had brought him down the medbay, when it had become too much for her to be able to handle.

"Yeah. The seizure was what prompted me to bring him down here..."

Because seizures were things beyond her capabilities. Hydration, keeping conscious, things of that nature? She could handle that. But seizures? Not so much. And as he'd been half out of consciousness by the time she had gotten the taller man down to the medbay, it clearly had been heading to the direction of losing complete consciousness.

Sighing, Oswin fiddled with her hair some, the only sign that she wasn't completely comfortable with where she was. If she was needed she would stay, but truthfully, she wanted to get out of the medbay. Too clinical. Too....stale. She'd rather clean up Kirk's apartment than be there but until she had answered all the questions she was needed for, she would remain.
