Clark frowned at the question. It was a complicated subject. If there was one thing he was certain of, it was that he was entirely uncomfortable with killing their target. Murderer or not, that wasn't how Clark dealt with things. But what were their other options? Send a supernatural creature to a human prison? It was unlikely that even the most standard of police stations would hold this Vetala long enough for it to even reach an actual prison. This wasn't their world. People had no idea what was out there. Back home, Superman could comfortably rest knowing that there were people who were capable of keeping aliens, mutants, and monsters alike contained. Here? Not so much. Then there was the option of handing the Vetala over to the people who did know about the supernatural. They would be able to handle it, but doing so would only lead them right back over to killing their target all over again. It was a very messy, complicated road and they were going to have to just find a way to cross it when they got there. For now, Clark just wanted to make sure that these murders ended.
"We stop them," Clark said, somewhat vaguely. He shot Lois a pointed look, knowing she'd appreciate the follow-up. "Together." Working at her side and making sure that she didn't get in too deep was his way of getting her out of harms way. Plus, it was his way of showing Lois that he trusted her enough to handle things if it got bad. They had disputed over the issue before and working together, especially on cases like this, had been their solution.
It had been a worthwhile solution. Partnering up with Lois had always been his favorite part of being a journalist.
"Do you think we'll find him?" Clark had to wonder. The man that they had tried to pry answers out of had been attacked the last that they saw him. If he thought for a second that he was going to get attacked by something again, then there was a good chance that he might have tried to book it out of Lawrence as quickly as possible.
