Another day, another rehearsal, such was the life of an actress. And Marguerite wouldn’t have it any other way. True, she was mildly distracted but when she was on stage, she forgot the worries that the agents would bring with them once the show opened. True, the news had spread and quickly but more often than not, Marguerite was able to brush it aside and focus on something else. The return of caffeine and other such substances tended to help. She hadn’t relied upon them, but it was still interesting to see the difference just a week had between when the others had no idea what it was and thus not addicted to it, and how they were now. Which... wasn’t all that different.
Given scenes were mostly just based off of who was available and when, today was Armand’s return to his departure. It was promising to be a trying day in terms of rehearsals went. Already they had run through the three scenes a few times and had stopped for lunch, for which Marguerite was grateful. Even if it meant listening to the others discussing the stress of agents showing up.
With Percy at one of the nonprofits he volunteered for, the French woman was sitting backstage with her lunch, talking with the Marie actress. It seemed everyone knew the real reason the talent agents were showing up even though it hadn’t been said and were wanting to know what her plans were. Plans Marguerite still didn’t know what to make of. Plans she hadn’t even made given everything she needed to take into consideration. Percy had shared her concerns once the shock wore off, which at least let her know it wasn’t just her. Because there was the whole issue of the displaced, keeping things quiet. The fact that everything was placed in Lawrence and signing meant moving. It was too much to consider and have a snap decision on.
Once lunch was over, everyone returned to the stage to once again start rehearsing before Nate and the actors for the Bounders showed up from their blocking rehearsal for Creation of Man.
“Lady Blakeney, your brother has returned.”
At that moment though, Marguerite noticed the door from the lobby open and her breath stopped. Armand. Without even thinking, she changed her direction, instead of towards Robert, she jumped off the stage and raced up the aisle.
“Armand? Armand!”
Okay, so what if it was the dialogue? It fit. She knew there was the risk of it being someone else who looked like him, but no, Marguerite would know her brother anywhere, and recognize his clothing. So without much else, she hugged her younger brother tightly. A year. It had been over a year since she’d seen him. She had been beginning to believe she would never see him in Lawrence.
