Who: Bo Hess and open What: Arrival When: Late morning Where: Garden on the complex roof (no small children roaming about because of reasons!)
When Bo opened her eyes, she wasn't looking at the tall alien that was like the one in Morgan's book any more. She was looking at a pink flower. Curious, she knelt down in the dirt at the edge of the flower bed and reached out for the stem, pulling it with a big tug to break it off. She experimentally poked one of the petals. It felt real, which was funny because usually in her dreams things were different. Maybe she'd just woken up and the alien was a dream. Which meant Morgan was okay. With a gasp of realisation Bo got to her feet, looking around her. If this wasn't her dream then she had to find Morgan and tell him about it. But she'd never seen this place before. It wasn't home and it wasn't the book store and Morgan and Uncle Merrill and her dad were all gone.
Stepping away from the garden bed, the knees of her jeans now smeared with dirt beneath the edge of her purple dress, the pink flower clutched in her tiny fist. She moved closer to the door she could see but then hesitated, looking back over at the garden. It seemed safe enough. If she went through the door, she might get lost and not be able to find her way back. Her dad always said if you were lost it was best to stay in the same place. Still uncertain, she hovered where she was, occasionally looking between the door and the flower in her hand.
