He laughed at the description of Katherine. Couldn't help it, She really was little more than a bitch, but could he really judge her for being a survivalist given what he had done in the name of restoring his wolf side, to people like Jenna. What he'd planned to do to Caroline? And he regretted that, not because of what he'd done but simply because it could have been her he'd killed and what would that have done. For Jenna, for the little werewolf girl, he'd felt no guilt. Why should he?
"My brother is a lovesick fool but then who am I to judge, I just wish he'd choose better than her, though admittedly Rebekah seems to be no better hanging about Stefan, near a century later and she still doesn't get it."
But in Caroline's ideal world, they'd be happy, Katherine would be happy, everyone would be happy. He wondered sometimes how she could see the world so brightly when he knew better. The world was dark, cold, yes there were shining rays of light like the one with him now, but they didn't last.
Even if her smile did light up the room as she talked about his work. Utterly complementary of it of course. "Thank you." he told her, stepping in slightly closer to gaze over the colours he had used, inwardly judging them and planning to alter one or two bits of shading.
"When its done, you can keep it. Not sure it would mean the same to anyone else. In fact I'd very much like if you'd agree to have it."
