Dean looked at Sam his expression moving from perplexed to curious at Sam's sheepish smile. Dean knew his little brother well, could read his brother very well. It didn't help that there times that Sam was an open book but even if he hadn't been Dean would have been able to understand the "mystery" that was Sam. And even if there were moments where Dean was obtuse enough not the picture, for the most part and at the ends of things, he figured things out rather well. Which was why he was wondering what exactly had Sam done. Sam usually looked like that, actually shuffling like he was a little kid waiting to get punished or about to confess or something, when he had done something and was about to make up for it. Or if he hadn't, Dean was beginning to wonder if this was when Sam would start getting all mushy.
Still, his mind ticked trying to figure out what Sam might have done or maybe something had gone wrong. Dean hoped nothing had gone wrong. He hadn't even been aware that something was even going on in the first place. Things had been alright between them. Alright wasn't good, wasn't exactly what it used to be. But Dean was willing to take it for now. And really hoped that his brother wasn't about to say something that would make all of that go south. Yet, before he could even voice a 'what was going on?' before he noticed a change in Sam's features. And even that didn't get much of a chance to register in Dean's brain when Uriel showed up between them.
The older Winchester let out a curse as he let the door slam behind him. He would take a million of 'Let's talk about this' rather than deal with Uriel. Right now. His good mood was all near gone. Almost nearly good. Because when Dean demanded, "Uriel! Great to see you. Not. What do you want -- " He paused, and a thought occurred to him, smirking. "you lackey with wings?" Okay, not the smartest thing to say. But he'd just thought of Buffy's words of even Uriel being a pawn in "the grand scheme". And well, she had said not to call him a pawn. Lackey was all he could come up with in short notice and a souring mood.
Dean braced himself to get choked or smacked around or just ganked in generall.
