He couldn't find a single drop of caffeine in the entire city of Lawrence, Kansas. Sam had checked grocery stores, convenience stores, and dozens of coffee shops. The stores simply didn't have any visibly stored on their shelves, whereas the baristas at every single coffee shop found themselves looking at Sam as though he had grown a second head when he asked them for anything remotely related to coffee. It was in the very coffee shop in which Sam had decided that his efforts were turning out to be pointless when he spotted a familiar figure standing at the other end of the counter. Round glasses, dark hair, lightning bolt shaped scar on his forehead...
For half a second, Sam forgot that he was suffering from a relatively harsh caffeine withdrawal. He purchased a bottle of water and walked over to where it looked like Harry was waiting for something of his own. "Did you find a way around this whole no coffee deal?" Sam asked with a raise of his brows. Maybe he had. He was a wizard, right? And there was no way that whatever was going on wasn't magic related. If anyone was going to find a loophole here, it was going to be one of the many magic users that the Seal had spit out.
As an afterthought, since Harry didn't exactly know Sam all that well, Sam followed up with: "Uh, sorry. I'm Sam. Winchester. We haven't really talked too much, so I don't know if you recognize me." Though the talk of missing coffee was a dead giveaway on him at least being one of the people who were involved in the apocalypse, it didn't tell Harry much else.
