That actually earned a laugh from her, and she glanced up at Matt, offering a small grin. She was so grateful that he wasn’t shutting her out and instead still acting like his usual self around her. She gave him one final squeeze to show how much she appreciated the offered comfort. “Can you even believe we’re actually in an Apocalypse? The Apocalypse?” she murmured, pulling back from him as she shook her head.
It still didn’t seem particularly real. Though, Caroline had no desire to have anything pop up to reinforce the idea that they were in the middle of some sort of war. As far as she was concerned relative normalcy was nice and could last as long as possible. And the alcohol, sweets, and caffeine could appear again at anytime as well.
“And thanks, Matt. For not looking at me like I have three heads or something.” Which she couldn’t have blamed him if he had done so. Being human among all the supernatural craziness and actually knowing what was going on had to be difficult. Especially with so much of it being out of his control. “Never let anyone tell you that you’re a bad friend because if anyone ever does they’re clearly idiots and need to get their head examined.”
