“Okay, great!” she told him, letting out a sigh of relief she hadn’t realized that she had been holding. “I brought cider, cups and cheeze-its, because I feel like I’ve had more popcorn and pizza in this last week than I’ve ever possibly eaten.” It was amazing how taking away a few vices could make the ones that were left become old and boring after too many days of them. Who would have thought anyone could grow tired of pizza that wasn’t the kind served every Friday in the cafeteria. Though Caroline had her doubts that it was anything other than repurposed cardboard with cheese and sauce added to it.
“So we can totally not-watch Scyfy together and eat and drink non-alcoholic drinks?” She shook the box at him, hoping it was a good idea. “And talk maybe?” Caroline was pretty sure she could figure out a way to bring up how much she was worried about Elena without actually going into detail on why she was so worried. “You’re taking vervain, right?” she continued, steering the conversation in a different direction for a moment. She remembered what it was like when she first turned, how intoxicating the scent of his blood had been, and how she’d forced herself to give him the push to end their relationship so he wouldn’t be at risk. She worried about Vicki’s control and needed to know he was protected.
