Matt didn't like that Caroline was apparently the only reason that Klaus wasn't going around killing people either. And he didn't like the fact that Caroline was comparing herself to Katherine of all people. That she felt like speaking her mind to Klaus -- whom she was obviously drawn to despite all the reasons she shouldn't be -- meant she was somehow manipulating the guy. If they ever decided to pursue a relationship -- and he was thinking if at this point because to him it seemed like it was an inevitable train crash waiting to happen -- how was it ever going to be even a little bit healthy if she stopped being who she was and just let Klaus do and say whatever he wanted without voicing her opinion? It worried Matt a lot.
Matt wasn't surprised by Elena's response to the suggestion of vampire blood. It was the same reason that he'd turned it down himself. "Yeah, I get what you mean," he admitted quietly, relieved that she hadn't agreed to it. He'd almost forgotten what it was like to be around human Elena. Man, he'd missed her. It wasn't that he didn't like her when she was a vampire, it was that it had limited her so much in some ways. Sure, she'd had immortality and super speed and super strength and better hearing.
But it had meant that she wouldn't ever be able to have children. That she would have to move every few years to avoid suspicion. That she would spend her entire life experiencing it dead that bothered him. It was all the same reasons that still bothered Matt about the other people he cared about being vampires; Caroline and Vicki and Rebekah and Tyler. They'd outlive him, no doubt (at least in Lawrence), but there was so much that they'd never have the chance to experience at all.
He smirked at her question. "Hey, when half of your best friends are girls, you learn to adapt, okay?" He grinned. "And for the record it was Bridesmaids, so that also counts as a comedy, right?" He hadn't seen the whole thing but the short bits he'd seen had been funny. For a chick flick.
"Ah." He set down the copy of Bridesmaids and then handed her the DVD. "I went for a classic. Liar, Liar," he told her with a grin.
