"I said that I wouldn't shoot you and by my calculations I've kept my word." Irina replied with a raised eyebrow that spoke words in and of itself. Those words giving the message of well what did you expect? Her reaction is the same that most people would have when confronted with what she had just been confronted with. Well, that and she'd held off on pulling that trigger longer than she normally would have. Elena's special brand of torture over a period of months had dulled her quick 'react and deal with the consequences' later decisions. He should just be thankful she had purposefully missed her target. Because it had been purposeful. Irina Derevko never missed her mark unless it was precisely what she intended to do.
Her raised eyebrow grew more defined and she gave a skeptical look as he continued to talk. On one hand she was disappointed that it seemed so easy to get information from this man. He'd hardly put up a fight. Something that had raised her suspicions and his explanations had only heightened them. While she was hardly any closer to believing what came out of his mouth, the way his features had changed couldn't be denied. He was something more than human. If he wanted to call himself a vampire then he very well could. But Irina was dead set on proving that it was the result of genetic manipulation and that he's been brainwashed into believing it. It wasn't all together impossible to fathom especially if Milo Rambaldi was involved. Gaining these answers would take time. Time. Everything in life always came down to time.
As he spoke about a safe place Irina was only half listening. Their definitions of the word safe could be very, very different. She certainly wasn't going to feel safe accepting help from whatever and whoever he was. No, Irina's definition of safe often meant having weapond and other resources at her own disposal with no questions being asked. When the word free was spoken Irina just scoffed and stared incredulously. Free. Nothing in the world was free. Everything came with a price. And to obtain what you needed you either had to pay that price or be skilled enough to get it. Often before the others who were undoubtedly after what you sought got to it first. Such was the game of being a spy. Thinking it over she decided as it stood she had nothing save for what clothing she wore and the rifle in her hand. She needed to regroup before getting back out there and a small part of her was curious to see just what this "free" establishment was like. Tilting her head, Irina said, "Lead the way," and nothing else.
