"Something like that" he agreed. It was a simple enough thing, but very much on course for getting to know her. And he could have jumped in at the deep end, asked why precicely she had fallen in love with that moronic idiot Tyler Lockwood, but there was little point. It would ruin what held promise of being a good couple of hours in her company.
He matched her step, reminded of that pagent that she remembered as her last action in Mystic Falls. They'd talked then too, laughed and joked, of course she'd been lying to him. Saying she had broken up with Tyler, lost him to Hayley. But that had not taken away from the day to his mind. She had been delightful company. A distraction perhaps on so many occasions but he found he didn't mind. If he was to be distracted so that her friends could carry out some foolish attempt to kill him that was never going to work then so be it.
He probably should care more that she had been used to exploit a weakness in him. That in truth, she was a weakness in him.
As to questions though. He had a few for her if she was being honest, and much as being honest did not come naturally to him, he'd give it a shot. See where it took them.
"Tell me then, honestly? Why is it you want me to teach about the twenties? So much in fact, that you were willing to meet with me alone mere days after a revelation you deemed horrific?"
