She’d nearly not even bothered to come and then halfway through the park, when she spotted Klaus, she’d nearly turned around and headed right on back home. Except she’d given her word and Caroline really didn’t like breaking that. Plus being afraid of being around him was ridiculous. Well, aside from the fact that he was pretty damn powerful, infinitely more powerful than him based on age alone, then there was the hybridness and the fact his bite could literally kill her, or how he’d killed, nearly killed, or at least plotted to kill herself and practically all of her friends before. Except none of those were even close to the reason she was anxious about being alone with him. Even if it was alone in the presence of a whole bunch of random strangers. Not that Caroline was going to analyze why she was so damn anxious. Nope.
Holding her head up hide and gathering as much bravado as she could muster, she headed straight over to him. She noted that she was a bit overdressed in her flowery summer dress and heels, but she had been auditioning caterers and had wanted to make a good impression before joining him so it couldn’t be helped. She’d been trying to come up with some sort of witty opener as she’d trekked across the lawn to him, but she’d come up empty.
“You know, it occurs to me that I have absolutely no clue how to actually teach a lesson,” she told him by way of greeting. “Especially not when its supposed to be about me.” How were you supposed to teach anyone all about your own mannerisms when half the time you never even realized you were doing them? Obviously she hadn’t thought this venture through all that well.
“So you’re like a billion. Got any ideas?” Wait. Maybe she didn’t want to give him that much control over their...whatever they were doing. “And I reserve the right to veto any and all ideas I don’t like.”
