After Bran and his son Charles, and probably Samuel as well, Adam was the next most dominant werewolf in North America back home. And one thing Mac would learn would be that dominant wolves were control freaks. It came with having to keep control of the wolf.
"The world is a mysterious place," Adam returned. "And given there seem to be multiple versions of reality, it could very well be possible that there are more powerful beings than the fae and their Gray Lords." He gave the teen a firm look. "I don't want you focusing on that now. Be aware of yes, as it is a threat, but right now your focus needs to be on keeping your wolf in control." Because if Mac couldn't control the wolf, Adam would have to take care of it. And he didn't want to kill Mac. He was a good kid. And he had died once already. Adam didn't want to make it a second time.
Hearing the crazy comment, Adam just grinned a little. "The world is full of surprises. I never suspected werewolves existed until I was in Vietnam." At the teen's words about being grateful Adam was here, the older man smiled and rested a hand on his shoulder. "Likewise. You're a good kid Mac and this shouldn't have happened to you. But I promise you, the men responsible for what happened will pay dearly." From what he knew, Charles, in Adam's point in time at least, had already done so. Leo, his crazed mate, and Justin had all been killed.
