She frowned at the next words. "Of course I can," she said eventually, not like she believed it, but because the other alternative was arguing about how she really couldn't, and although that was what she believed, it wasn't the side she wanted to take in an discussion, arguing against herself. She gave Spike an odd look because she'd been talking about her and Dawn, not her and Spike with the pulling up comment. And him taking it the way he did just reminded her how very weird this was, walking along at the pace of a snail with Spike. And he was being gentle. It wasn't a side of him that was completely unknown to her, but it wasn't what she expected to see so consistently.
