She hadn’t expected to hear his voice, and certainly not pick it up as close to her as he was currently standing. It took a lot of effort not to move the hell over and out of his way, but she was doing this to prove to herself that she wasn’t afraid and didn’t need to live in fear of him so being jumpy would pretty much counteract everything if she allowed for it. She glanced over at Matt, trying to gauge how her friend was doing considering she knew how little he cared for Klaus, before looking back at the painting.
There was something oddly alluring about the painting and she tried to put her finger on it as she stepped away from the two men and closer to the painting. “Seduction.” She’s pretty sure that’s what it was. “And isolation. The lines are harsh, the brushstrokes.” However she was supposed to describe that part. “But the women at the center are still beautiful, tossing pretty subtle glances at, well, us, but also in respect to the faceless men on the street. But the one man with features, he’s off to the side somewhat. Alone in a crowd of people.” And didn’t everyone feel that isolation at some point or another.
Caroline spared a glance toward Klaus then, wondering what he thought of her assessment and then mentally kicking herself for even caring. “So what do you think, Matt?” She turned her attention to her friend, offering him an apologetic smile.
