Who: Anna and Caroline
What: Meeting up after Anna's arrival.
Where: A cafe downtown.
When: Thursday afternoon.
Why: Becaaaause.

Anna wasn't entirely sure what to make of everything she'd been told. The devil here sounded incredibly lame if he was trolling the internet for kicks. She'd known fellow vampires who were scarier than that. Hell, she could be damn scary herself if she had to be.

She also wasn't sure what to make of Caroline offering to bring her an anti-possession necklace. She didn't remember ever having officially met the other woman, but she knew Caroline was friends with Elena and Bonnie, and by extension, Jeremy. Which to her meant a couple of very important things. One, that Caroline was probably as wary of Anna as Anna was of her considering her history with Elena and Bonnie. And two -- she wouldn't harm her unless her own life was on the line, out of respect for Jeremy.

Sighing, she looked out the window, annoyed by the anxiety that was currently plaguing her. She was over five hundred years old. She shouldn't be nervous about...well, anything. Except maybe John Gilbert, if he showed up in this place. Which she really hoped wouldn't happen because she really didn't want to die again. And she didn't want to kill after she'd just made a pact that she wouldn't.

Caroline trusted Anna about as far as she could kick her, which may have been a bit of a distance considering her upped strength. However Anna was way older than her and that had to count for something. Not to mention everything that had happened back in Mystic Falls with the tomb vampires and then of course the whole Jeremy and ghosts thing wasn't exactly endearing her towards the girl, but no one deserved not having some protection against demon possession. Plus Caroline was pretty sure something was up with Elena and Jeremy already had Vicki to worry about, so it couldn't hurt if she met the girl and gave her the necklace. At least she hoped it didn't hurt. And then she'd need to make sure there wasn't any chance Anna would hurt Jeremy either.

She found the cafe in record time and cautiously approached Anna before sliding onto the seat across from her. Dangling the necklace above the table for a moment, she frowned. "It's pretty much the tackiest thing ever but its helpful. Or so I'm told."

Caroline still wasn't sure how a vampire could be possessed by a demon, but whatever.

She arched her eyebrows as Caroline slid into the seat across from her at the table. She looked at the necklace for a moment, grimacing. "It is pretty hideous," she agreed, cautiously reaching out and taking the jewelry from the blonde. She'd obviously be leaving it tucked inside her shirt. She fastened it around her neck and did just that, leaning back in the seat.

"Thank you for bringing it."

There really was no reason to beat around the bush. "Right. So. You just got here and it's all traumatic and everything, but you should be pretty damn good at adapting all things considered so let's just cut to the chase." Which probably didn't help tat she was talking a mile a minute or saying so much either. "I'm going to guess you know Jeremy is here by now and see, he's a friend and I don't want him hurt. So this is me making sure that he doesn't get hurt."

There was more to it than that, but Caroline figured that was number one right now. Jeremy Gilbert had been through more than most people went through in a lifetime and he didn't deserve to be hurt again. Not if she could help it. Not that she knew exactly all that had happened between Anna and Jeremy, just bits and pieces here and there from Bonnie or Elena over the last two years. Usually she'd leave this to Elena, but it seemed to Caroline that Elena could use a break from shouldering all the responsibility.

Anna almost smiled at the other girl's bluntness. Almost. It was something she could relate to. She leaned forward once more, resting her elbows on the table. "Yes, let's cut to the chase," she agreed.

She studied the younger woman for a moment. "Jeremy Gilbert is the last person in any universe I would ever want or try to hurt. So you have nothing to worry about from me." She wondered how much, if anything, Caroline knew about her. It was likely more than Anna knew about Caroline. For now.

"I hear that a whole lot. Everyone likes to say oh so and so has nothing to worry about from me, but then something else happens or someone else comes along and BAM all that talk about never hurting them suddenly disappears if it helps you get whatever it is that you want at that point." Hadn't she seen that happen with who even knew how many other vampires by then? Everyone talked a big game until their priorities shifted and suddenly anyone seemed to be fair game to be used for personal benefit. It was kind of depressing.

"So you're going to need to forgive me if I don't exactly take your word on that. I just figured if I was going to be giving you the amulet I should also make it known that hurting him would be a very bad idea." Not that she really knew what she'd do if Jeremy was hurt, but Caroline thought her bravado was pretty good at the moment.

"I'm not everyone," Anna responded, a hint of annoyance in her tone. "Let me be perfectly clear. I love Jeremy. Do you know what that feels like? To love someone? To know absolutely with everything you are that you'll never hurt them in any way?" Her eyes were narrowed as she stared at Caroline.

"There is nothing I want that can be achieved by hurting him." Her jaw tightened. "And you don't have to take my word. I appreciate the amulet, but please don't threaten me again." She moved to stand up.

Caroline watched Anna rise, her prior words like a punch in the gut. Oh she knew love very well. She knew what it meant to love someone enough to let them leave so they would be protected from psychopaths. "You know technically I didn't actually threaten so much as make it known that it'd be a bad idea to do anything," she retorted, and leaned back against the booth. "If you love him then I guess we'll see if what you're saying is true or not."

She reached into her pocket and took out the few gift cards she'd snagged from the Complex lobby as well. "Unless someone vouches for you then you can't get into the Complex to stay. I don't know how you are with the Originals but they staying over at this one place." Score one for Elijah having revealed that when Caroline had arrived. "But here." She slid the cards across the table. "The Complex has a whole bunch of these for new arrivals. Do with them what you will if you want. Or leave them here and let someone else pick them up." It really didn't matter to her what happened to them.

"Same difference. It was an implied threat," Anna said coolly. Then she paused when Caroline laid the gift cards from the Complex. She was pretty certain there wasn't anyone who would vouch for her so she could stay there. Probably not even Jeremy. And she couldn't really blame them.

"Are you friends with the Originals?" Because she wasn't. She barely knew Elijah, and considering Katerina had been terrified of Klaus, Anna wasn't too eager to get anywhere very close to them herself. She knew she could easily compel herself a hotel room or even an apartment if she needed to so it wasn't a big deal. But the gift cards were a nice gesture. She hesitantly reached out and picked them up. "Thanks." This time her voice was a little more quiet.

"I am definitely not friends with the Originals." And she wasn't about to explain how Klaus seemed to be a tiny bit obsessed with her. It was probably better not to point that out to Anna. Not like she even really knew her besides what she'd been told. "But I figure its better to know where to avoid if you're not a big fan of theirs or vice versa."

Caroline nodded at the cards in Anna's hands. "Well. I'm sure you'll be fine and everything, but if you need more of those there's seriously like a box full so say something and I'll drop them off somewhere or whatever." Because being alone in this great big new place had to be kind of crazy and pretty damn scary.

She relaxed just slightly at Caroline's words. "Yes, you're right about that." She pursed her lips, planning to do just that. She was going to stay far, far away from the Originals as long as she could. Unless they went near Jeremy.

"I will be," Anna said confidently, even though her chest felt tight with mixed emotions. "Thanks again. For the tacky jewelry and the cards." She met Caroline's eyes. "I won't hurt Jeremy." Her voice was even more soft. Without waiting for a response, she turned and headed for the door.
