"Oh, really?" Kol did perk up a bit at the mention of Jeremy's own death shortly after his. "Did Nik rip your head off for going after his own?" That seemed logical to him, at any rate.
He shrugged nonchalantly at the suggestion that he'd have done the same were their roles reversed. He couldn't say that definitely and as such, he wouldn't actually dignify it with a response. "Well, I didn't say you wanted it, did I? Just that you'd be fine." Kol let out a laugh that came out a bit louder than intended at those words. "Sorry? You're apologizing for murder?" He laughed again, a bitter sound, and shook his head. "It doesn't work that way, Gilbert. But, it also apparently can't work the way I want it to either. So." He shrugged. He wouldn't give the boy the satisfaction of agreeing that they did sort of have similar wants, here. Living in peace with his family. Well, as in peace as they could get anyway.
Vicki's reaction to Jeremy's casual mention of the future got an arched eyebrow from Kol. Perhaps it was because death, aside from his own, was not as big of a deal after a thousand years, or because Kol rarely had any real attachment to anyone outside of his family, but it seemed unusual. "Might want to calm her down, lover boy. She looks like she's ready to run someone down which would be a shame since, you know," he tilted his head back slightly, looking upwards for a moment before focusing his attention back on the teenagers in front of him once again. "no daylight ring and all."
