Alex had been busy, checking messages, replying where needed, so when the doorbell went, she just called that she'd be there in a minute. She had thought that her voice was loud enough, but apparently not when she heard the door opening moments later. There was no reason to worry until there wasn't any voices carrying up the stairs.
Curious, she did her thing, rentaghosting right to the front door.
And to a scene that was all too familiar, too painful. And the look of horror on her face had been there before.
Hal. Over a bloodied girl. Eyes black, fangs out.
"Hal." Her voice was barely above a gasp as she stood, frozen to the spot, unable to move, to react, to even process what she was seeing. Her mind raced with explanations, denials, anything that could make this all just go away and not be what it looked like.
