It was almost exactly as he told Loki the other night, his body felt like a brick. Like he'd suffered a hang over without any of the booze, so come sunrise he was awake early. He was on the roof laying on the concrete and not giving a damn who was up there to see. He had his arm behind his head. His thoughts in the clouds. His sunny day had been rained on. The world smelled like it'd been washed clean. He remembered trying to cloud watch a few times with Bart before ontop of Titans tower, but Bart was always in a hurry. People thought he was fast, wait till they became friends with Kid Flash. He'd spent many long summer days ontop of the silo on the Kent Farm, and sometimes sun bathing on the roof of the complex reminded him of that. Summers always seemed to last longer in Smallville, between weekend stints with the Titans.
It was strange being in Kansas, and no Smallvile in sight. No Ma and Pa Kent waiting for him after school. He might have mocked the farm often, but the truth was he missed parts of it. There were good parts. Mr. and Mrs. Kent for example had taken him in on Clark's request, raised yet another Kryptonian the best they could. Kon would always respect them for that, even if he had been a little shit at the time. He regretted it. If he ever got back home he would make it up to them. He would be the kind of son who did his chores without as many complaints-though lets face it, he'd never be a boyscout like Clark but he could at least try a little harder.
He wished they had been there to see him graduate, but he also wished Allana could have been too. The Solo's hadn't come, but he didn't expect them too. They didn't exactly get along. They only tolerated each other for Allana's sake, and that showed now that she was back home Princessing it up. Home. His thoughts kept wandering back to home. He had been fighting the apocalypse for nearly three years now. How much closer were they? Had they made any actual progress? Kon sighed. The expression on his face dropped a little too seriously. The clouds darkened and Kon frowned a little deeper at them as though they were to blame.
At this rate it was going to take a century to feel better again. Stupid clouds.
