She giggled, nestling into that warm place against his chest. Somehow she found a way to make herself fit no matter what position they were in. "Oh, I don't know. Maybe perhaps once the little ones are out of the potentially breakable phase, we should allow it. Just to see what happens."
And then his tone dropped, his voice grew serious, and she looked up, meeting those brightly colored eyes. Marian's head tilted slightly, watching him for a moment, working out her next words in her head. Any wrong words might set him in a mood she wasn't quite up to handling. That's when they snapped and fought and bickered and this was far too important to her for that to happen. "Claire? She's the one who...who offered to listen? If people needed to talk?" A wave of relief so intense it almost literally shook her ran across her. She knew why he couldn't talk to her. Worry for her and her reaction, mostly. Possibly afraid it would change how she saw him, even though that couldn't be further from the truth. But he needed to talk to someone. She almost didn't care who.
