Despite her initial words indicating that what she'd thought wasn't actually true, he felt for the briefest moment a small measure of excitement at the prospect. Which he knew was ridiculous. But this was something he had, that they both, had wanted for a long while. And then he imagined how much worse it must have been for her, to have actually felt those feelings knowing they could come to fruition, only to have them dashed.
When she dropped down to sit beside him, he reached for her hand, squeezing her fingers gently. "I'm sorry. I know how much you want this. I do too." He wasn't sure if he needed to add that part on, but somehow he didn't think it would hurt for her to be reminded he did, so badly, want children with her. He shrugged, though the gesture was small and fairly meaningless right then. "I don't think there is a right or wrong time. It will happen."
