Who: Robin and Marian What: ...oops When: Friday night Where: Their bedroom Warnings: TBD
The instructions were simple enough to follow. It was the waiting that was the hard part. Nothing else to be done, was there? Simply sit and wait. She could try and do other things but how? How could she when her entire life sat on the bathroom counter, waiting to be answered? She'd already checked on Much, who still seemed exhausted and worn, but no more so than anyone else in that apartment was lately. There was so much lingering tension everywhere and she didn't know how to make it better.
When the timer on her phone gave a little beep, she felt sick. Her brain was a confusing place of information at that moment. The knowledge the Bauble wish had given her blended with all that she already knew from home and she wasn't even sure what was fact and what wasn't anymore. She also didn't know if she was ready for this. Oh, Marian wanted children. Desperately. Being in that other world, holding baby William in her arms and taking him out of England to safety? She knew she'd do anything to be a mother now that she had a second chance to do so. And she wanted, no, needed it to be Robin's child, too. That was a key factor in her life. All she'd ever wanted as a young girl was to be his wife and the mother of his children. Now she had that chance.
So why did she feel so awful as she removed the stick from its spot on the counter and carried it into the bedroom with her?
They weren't ready. Not now. They were practically falling apart all around themselves. Maybe a baby would be enough to bring them together, to bind them back to where they should be. Or maybe it would be enough to push her marriage over the edge. She just didn't know.
She dropped down on the edge of the bed, and finally, with shaking hands, looked down. One line.
