They’d taken to traveling by the sewers, even at night. Peter knew the people here. They’d be looking to take Jerry out. Even before Mick’s confirmation, he’d known that there were some people who would as soon kill him and Regina and the others as well, never mind that they could be turned human again. Just as well really; Peter had no intention of allowing that to happen. Humanity was one thing that could never be an option. He plans of his own, ones that involved getting out from under Jerry’s thumb entirely.
Even now he could still feel his sire’s influence coiling around his will like a noose, limiting him. He hated feeling caged. He fought it with everything he had...which is what had led to him wandering around the city during daylight hours rather than sleeping. As long as he stuck to the sewers and shadows, he was mostly fine, though it was still a fight to ignore the heat beating in around him and the brightness making him squint. He longed to go back underground where it was cool and sheltered, to burrow into the earth and sleep... but that struggle to ignore such urges was a warm up compared to fighting Jerry’s control. And once he’d caught her scent...
He watched her for a while, moving from shadow to shadow as she made her way down the sidewalk. She looked tired and concerned, though that was unsurprising. He was almost surprised to see her outside the complex at all, but he supposed with the full sun overhead, she probably felt safe. Bit of a foolish concept really. But she’d learn.
He got ahead of her some, finding an alley that was sheltered from any direct sun and lurking in the shadows. It didn’t take long before she was passing by just outside his hiding space, still so oblivious. Too fast for a human to really react in time, he reached out to grab her by the arm. Gritting his teeth against the sunlight just brushing his fingers when he caught hold of her, he pulled her around into the alley. Peter shoved her up against the wall he’d just been hiding behind, strong hands gripping her upper arms tight so she couldn’t move. Grinning brightly, he leaned in close, towering over her small frame. He could still remember a time when holding her close like this had been a common thing... though he wasn’t nearly so gentle now. “Miss me?” he asked, eyebrow cocking and eyes dancing with cruel humour. Too easy.
