Another noise. Amy’s eyebrows wrinkled as she tried to focus, heading where she believed the source of the noise to be. Her thoughts came and went quickly, mostly ideas of what it could be that she was chasing. It could have been a vampire, but it could have just as easily been a stray cat or something equally harmless. Whatever the case, it had both her attention and her curiosity and she just had to see the source of the noises with her own eyes.
There was a door around the corner, unlocked and left open just a crack. With the door left open she assumed that it was empty. Cautiously, she extended her leg and opened the door a little further with her foot. As if she was in some horror movie, the door made an awful creaking noise as it slowly swung open. She peered inside. It seemed to be a poorly lit warehouse, almost completely empty. The floor was cement and the ceilings were high, a recipe for echoes and an unsettling ambience.
“Can this get any creepier?” Amy muttered under her breath. She sighed, stopping in her tracks and looking inside for a moment. She didn’t absolutely have to go in, did she? Then again, even patrolling was an elective. She didn’t even have to be standing in the lonely alley, but there she was. With a little huff of breath, Amy decided to go all the way and scope the building out before she headed home for some much needed rest.
Amy stepped over the threshold and into the warehouse. It really was empty. Deserted. It was no wonder the owners hadn’t cared to shut and lock the entrance she’d walked in through. She looked around the dimly lit place, trying to find something, anything that could have made a noise.
