Hal mearly shrugged, "Maybe I am, but you're the one who has had ample chance to rid the world of me and never quite taken it. Talk about cliches. Besides you underestimate the appeal of blood, power and sex. I mean I understand why, they're all squarely out of your reach. Though Alex, really, lets not pretend here. It's fairly obvious you were a lot more into that kiss than I was. No offense and all but you just can't really quite get there with a ghost. Now Katherine, Katherine I could take my time with, and I bet she could really give it back. In so many ways you never could."
Hitting where it hurt. It was what he did, what he always had done, she could call it cliche if she wanted but those were the ways that worked, that had always worked.
"You're letting me get away with it now. Because you're not going to stake me. You're going to eventually rentaghost off in a wave of angry ghost angst and I'm going to do worse than just kidnap a witch. You know it, I know it and we also both know you'll sit and cry because you couldn't do it. Because you look in my eyes and you wonder maybe. Maybe I can get him back where Sylvie and Mary and Catherine and who knows how many other simpering fuckwits have failed. Because you're different. Because your love is special and real. And because maybe...gosh, maybe if you kill me, he'll die! Or maybe he's already taken that step too far in my world and maybe you'll lose us both and wouldn't that just devestate you."
His tone was more mocking than anything else. He was playing with her now and the likelyhood was that they both knew it. And yet he was still on top. As usual.
His grip tightened at her wrists.
"The kiss, was as close as you're ever going to get to him again and you know it. You may be dead and cold but there's still a woman under all that tomboy. He dreams about proving it you know, dreams about what it would be like with you. Dreams about real kisses, real shivers down your spine, he thinks about all the ways he would have you. And then he remembers. Shame really. Still, there's always Katherine."
He leaned in, close enough to touch now and raised an eyebrow almost bored.
"Now are you going to hurry up and fade away or am I at least going to get something out of this?"
