The plan had been....
Well, it had been flawed. At best. But Alex could understand why, and she couldn't say that she would have done any differently. Love, be it between parents and children, or between lovers, or any other form, it could chase away rational thoughts and leave people vulnerable. Even dead people like her.
The focus had been to get Lily Potter out, and that had happened. The young redhead was back with her family, though Alex hadn't missed the stricken look she had given her father at the use of one particular curse, and even though Lord Harry had laughed it off, Alex wondered what the longer term issues would be with that. But that was between them and in front of her was a more immediate issue.
She had known that the wizards, skilled though they were, would not have been able to take on the Old One with such disorganization. Lord Harry required planning, strategy, and without those things casualties were a very real possibility. And even though Alex had seen first hand the kinds of things he could do, she still froze when she saw him grabbing Lydia. Fangs out. Eyes black. That smirk on his face, and Alex had no doubt in her mind that he was seconds from tearing her friends' throat out. So she did the only thing she could do, she had rentaghosted across the room to his side and yanked him, yanked him away from Lydia and away from everyone, away from that entire place in fact, as she did another rentaghost. She couldn't do it with any living thing.
But a vampire was not living.
She hadn't even really thought about it, just gone with her instinct, and had reappeared with him in the place she was beginning to think of as her and Hal's place, that forest where they had had one heart breaking conversation, and where she had nearly torn it apart when she had found out about Katherine. The area still looked as though a small tornado had hit it, but Alex's focus was on the vampire in front of her. She hadn't exactly thought all of this through, and now the two of them were there, at least an hours walk from any people, she had absolutely no clue what to do.
Though there was a lot of wood around.
She held out a hand and a broken branch flew into it and she held it warily at her side.
