There were days spent in this place where he wasn't sure of his place, wasn't sure he could be content with such a change. With so little to do and so few people to help, as he had before. He hadn't always handled the things that had been thrown at him as well as he could, and for Marian as much as for himself he had promised himself he would change that.
And the nice part of that was of course enjoying moments like this. When his thoughts were focused solely on what they were doing, and little else. That was, until she kissed him, and brought up something he'd intended to let pass by unacknowledged. That she'd read some of the things he'd written down. Possibly even all of them.
She was lucky she kissed him when she did, and he suspected that was exactly how she'd planned it, cause he'd been ready to say something dismissive, to change the subject as though it weren't a big deal. But not when she was distracting him that way. And there was little more distracting than her kisses. Particularly kisses like that one, which he returned with equal fervor. He rested his forehead against hers once it ended. "Just a few ideas is all."
