They really shouldn't. The storm would only get closer, and she'd probably be considered an unfit mother for letting him be out in this weather. But it was the pleading in his voice and the fact that he was willingly still holding her that made her nod. "Yeah, sweetie, we can. Just for a bit."

Because she couldn't protect him from life as a fictional character, or life as Regina Mills' adopted son. But she could save him from a little rain and having to face life in the mansion they'd found themselves in. She could tuck him into bed next to his sister and watch them sleeping and never let anyone hurt them and that? Well, wasn't that all anyone could ask of her? If that made her a terrible mother, then so be it. But she dared anyone to try and do it better.
