Virgil didn't like it. No..Virgil hated it. Bart was acting strange. Chloe was secretive. New things kept appearing, and Bart kept disappearing. He wanted to go to Chicago because it was supposed to be fun, but he wasn't having any. Instead he was spending most of the time fighting with Bart, avoiding Bart, and now running. Bart had the streets covered. So Virgil took to the air. It didn't take him long before he was further away from their small apartment complex than he planned. But dressed as Static in his gear he wasn't exactly helpless. Nobody bothered him. The one who tried, learned a very enlightening lesson. After that word spread quickly in the streets of an electrically powered super freak. Great. Just the kind of rep he wanted.
He felt terrible. Like all this was his fault. He was the one who'd asked Bart to go to this place, and maybe Bart felt like this was the only way so he took it upon himself. Virgil didn't expect fancy things, didn't want them and was perfectly happy without them. He didn't understand why Bart was sinking into his old habits again. He was so angry at everyone and everything that being Static wasn't even fun. He was determined to have some but it wasn't happening this way. Changing into his civilian clothes in a dark alley he tossed his blue pack on his back and headed into the lively city. It was morning now, things were less scary then they had been when he arrived the night before. He could see the city and it was amazing.
Street vendors on every corner, the smell of fresh baked pizza on an oven stove. Every street had a different culture to offer, and Virgil was starving. He dug into the pockets of his red baggy pants and pulled out a few dollars. Crumpled, but still good. A small frown crept into his features at the price of things. Was that why Bart felt like he had to steal? But it didn't make sense. Chloe had things didn't she? Why would Bart have to go back to that..? Virgil paid for a hot dog and soda, and walked the sunny sidewalk strip. There were so many things to see, but Virgil's mind was a million miles away.
