It was inspirational really, the way Jack talked about humanity and the future. For all the bad, there was still the good and after years of dealing with Helen Cutter and other bleak ideas, listening to someone talk with hope just felt good. It reminded Becker why he did the things he did.
Of course there was the other side of Jack too, the losses he had clearly suffered, things like the unexpected vacancy he mentioned. Becker could tell there was a story there, he'd seen more than a few of those himself. Hell, his own job at the ARC had been because of Stephen's death. But the fact that Jack still seemed able to find the hope in a situation, now that was one hell of a turn on.
As was the promise to find him a maniac to punch, something that made Becker grin like a child promised the best toy for Christmas.
In the meantime he could definitely agree with reminiscing later. "Ten seconds, huh?" A smirk appeared on his face, and he didn't bother to hide the flash of heat in his eyes. "What have I mentioned about me not backing down from a challenge?"
And besides, he'd been wanting to kiss Jack for the whole evening.
He leaned forward, easily reaching over the length of the small table between them as he pressed his lips against Jack's, softly at first but confident all the same, one hand sliding behind Jack's head as he let the kiss build. Sure, this wasn't technically their first kiss, but since this one was lacking any actual curse, Becker was determined to make sure it was a damn good kiss.
