Loki's arrival, while unexpected, was not a surprise. She knew he was aware when she was in turmoil, the incident at camp had verified that fact. But it was also the fact she could recognize his power signature. Before he had cut it off during Dark's appearance, she had not noticed it. But losing it made it obvious to her, so when it returned, Morgana knew it for what it was. So even though she did not see his arrival, she still felt it. His voice alerted her when he was close, and so the brunette turned her attention to where he stood, giving a nod of greeting.
"You look better."
There was no judgement in the statement, simply fact. She understood the concept of pushing oneself and refusing help, of guarding signs of vulnerability and weakness. So many times had Gwen told her to rest, to say she didn't need to put on such a mask back home, and Lancelot had picked up that mantle here. So Morgana was quite familiar with the signs.
Then again, it seemed as though she and Loki were counterparts in their respective worlds. Lies on parentage, the golden brother, the need to hide the truth of their abilities, themselves, lest the person they trusted most killed them for they would be considered an enemy. The need to survive. Paths being crossed that at one time would seem unfathomable to them. Pulled here before that critical time when everything would change and they became the villain. The need to change that here.
Caring. It seemed a powerful motivator. Morgana had only ever truly loved and trusted Arthur and Gwen. Gaius had been a trusted friend and Merlin making his way into that small fold. But they would all leave or betray her trust. Here she had Lancelot, Loki, Marian and even Arthur despite their present situation. And it was enough to keep her tethered to the ground, to keep her from going down a path she could not return from. But for how long?
Morgana well knew she could not live on what its, waiting for them to betray her. And she knew that she could not worry on if one would be in danger. She well knew how she would respond, the obsessed need to fix it somehow, no matter the cost. But even knowing that, she still worried.
Do what you believe in and damn the consequences
It sounded good in theory, but her 'world' showed perhaps not so good in execution.
